Over many years of teaching, I have developed my own unique style and I love to teach in all mediums including oil, acrylic and watercolours. I am a Bob Ross & Bill Alexander Certified instructor, as well as an acredited Portrait, and Pet Portrait Artist with commission work hanging worldwide. Additionally I often run workshops based upon my own photos and designs. My versitility and experience with these major mediums enables me to offer you a variety of unique classes and courses, ranging from fun loving splashy watercolours, detailed acrylics, and advanced oil portraits.
So a very warm welcome to MazArt Studio, a purpose built art studio set in Scholar Green in the heart of the English countryside.
MazArt is secluded but fully accessible by Road (5 miles from the M6), and by Rail (3 miles from Alsager or Kidsgrove Train Station). The studio caters for up to 9 students and there is an ample FREE PARKING.
The cornerstone of my approach to is to build upon small group numbers with a maximum of 9 students (much less on portrait courses and masterclasses). This ensures that every artist will get the individual tuition required to advance their art. I want to help you become sucessful with your art journey, whilst ensuring that you have a throughly enjoyable experience whilst doing so.
My three day portrait courses (18 hours) are exreamly popular and see students travelling from all over the UK to learn how to paint a portrait of their choice. The three day courses are run either as three consecutive days, split 3 days over three weeks, or even six half days over six weeks. It is the same intense course of 18 hours tution regardless of which format you choose to attend. Based upon a photo of your choice, a full information booklet will be sent to you upon booking which will recommend the type of head and shoulder photo you need to produce a great portrait as well as in depth detail about the course and what you need. A Maximum of 5 students per course allows plenty of individual tuition and each student will receive a booklet which gives all the co
lour swatches and demos covered during the course for you to continue your practise at home, as well as a FREE brush set to ensure you will be fully equipped to produce a great portrait. (Drawing skills not necessary)
Dry brush is a fascinating technique of rubbing black oil paint onto watercolour paper, then using a simple eraser to "lift out" your light areas. This one day course is very popular and although you may not always complete your portrait (of choice) in one day, you will fully understand the techniques, brushes and type of watercolour paper needed so you can continue to practise this method at home.
I run a huge variety of workshops in all media, which range from one to three days depending upon the complexity and demands of the activity. These include seascape, landscapes, still life, floral etc. Each workshop is design to teach specific skills, brush stroke and paint mixing techniques. Take a scroll down my workshop schedule, but be sure to keep checking as I add brand new workshop designs as and when I paint something new and fresh. Better yet why not subscribe to my mailing list to be kept up to date on events at the studio. (LINK).
I also have visiting professional artists throughout the year bringing with them their own specialist area of expertise such as Roy Lang with his amazing seascapes, and Vic Bearcroft with his world renowed pastel on velour workshops. These artists are in tune with the style and approach set by MazArt Studio.
I am happy to do commission work, and have portraits and pet portraits hanging in the UK, as well as Australia, Canada and the US. To see examples of my commission work, please go to my commission gallery and to commission a portrait please see the commission page for a price guide.
Due to demand from overseas clients I began my brand new venture into online workshops in 2016. You get full access to a video tutorial taught by me. This is yours to keep (no subscription). You also get full access to a printable worksheet which divide the painting into managable tasks. This allows you to control the pace at which you prefer to work. For more information please click the Online Classes link (link).
I also have an abundance of FREE you tube tutorials for you to fully enjoy, so why not pop over to my channel and subscribe on there for the lastest updates to video tuition, and of course if you like what you see don't forget to give me those all important thumbs up! click the link to go directly to my YouTube Channel
